.Most people would define success in terms of achieving goals acquiring wealthy and having prestige favour, status and power.
Successful people enjoy the good life . being finally secure, emotionally secure being surrounded by admirers and enjoying the fruits of their labour. Their example is emulated and their compliments are noticed.

Most peoples’ definition of success only deal with here and now” of this life even in many churches today the definition of their success is in terms their success is in terms of numbers and size and dollars and prestige.

God’s Definition of Success

Success is measured and defined differently by God. God’s measure of success involves our obedience and faithfulness to him. Regardless of opposition and personal cost. His measure of success is whether or not we are being loyal to him in our personal relationship. (parable of talents) with him and in our life and whether we are accomplishing his goals and purposes for our life.

Was Jesus A Success?

By the world definition or measure of success here on earth Jesus was a failure. He had little in material possessions and did not even own a home. He was rejected by most people, and was even heated by some. The religious leaders of the time despised him. He was accused and found guilty of things he did not do. He was beaten, spit on, cursed, mocked, and he suffered terribly and died the most horrible kind of deaths known to man at th1at time of death on the cross. Measure him by the way most of us measure success and he was a failure. But in God’s eyes, the redemption & Salvation of all mankind wasaccomplished through his son, Jesus pay for our sins, restore relationships with God and for our eternal life.

Prosperity Theology

It is a Christian religious belief whose proponents cIaimhas ”Ten of Millions” of adherents primarily in United State, centered on the notion that God provides material prosperity for those he favours. It has been he favours. It has been defined by the belief that “Jesus blesses believers with riches” or more specially as the teaching that believers have a right to the blessings of health & wealth and that they can obtain these blessings through positive confessions of faith and sowing of seed through the faithful payment of Tithes & Offerings.
It arose in the U.S. after World War I championed by Oral Robert and became particularly popular in the decade of the 1990s. More recently , the theology has been exported to less prosperous areas of the world with mixed result.
Keneth Hagin Sr. is considered the father of the so called prosperity gospel. Hagin started a grassroot movement in Oklahoma that produced a Bible College and a crop of famous preachers including Copeland, Creflodollar and Jesse Duplantis all of whom teach that Christian who give generously should expect financial rewards on this side of the heaven.
That God was not glorified by poverty but he was not happy about the abuse of it. Hagins wrote against it before he died denouncing:

1. Financial ‘prosperity is not a sign of God’s blessings. What of drug pushing?
2. People should not give to get.
3. It is not biblical to name your seed (claiming a benefit in return for donation).
4. Hundred fold return is not a biblical concept.
5. Preachers who claim a debt breaking anointing should not be trusted.

Increase, Prosperity and Success are often used interchangeably. It has to do with who you are and who you become, what you do with natural talents & Spiritual gifts that God give to you. It has to do with the influence you have, leadership you exert and the things you accomplished for God’s kingdom. It has to do with resources as a necessary part of living and a necessary part of increasing the kingdom of God.

God’s increase is the totality of person’s life. It is not limited to finances. It includes wisdom & knowledge, faith ability, capacity, healthy, Joy, Peace, fruit of the spirit and flow of spiritual gift.

1. Genuine increase or prosperity is a life long process. It occurs because we are
faithful to God’s commandment.
2. Increase results in eternal riches as well as temporal materials.
3. Blessings not just calculated in terms of dolIar. Increase is incalculably. Genuine
increase flows from inside out. Increase begins within you not outside, like
prosperity message says.
4. Genuine increaSe’is rooted in community. I Thes. 3:12 -13 , Ps 92: 12,
Is 29: 8 – 9
5. Increase begins and ends with God
The richness of His grace
The richness of His goodness
The richness of His love
(Lev. 26 v 9, Jn.10 v 10 Jn. 1 :4)

Haggai 1:1- 3, 23, Ps. 68:19

People can only see the dot but they don’t see the actual paper. Don’t see travail but see the blessings of God. Don’t dream of problems, dream of good things God has promised you.
God’s purpose, priority & plans first so as not to miss the blessings of God. God’s house lies in runS. Hg24 James 4:7 and Joshua 1: 6-9 “Be strong and courageous to build the house of God”.

God’s Formula for Success

There is a common desire within every person to feel successful. We often measure our worth on the basis of how successful we are. How we measure that success is often based on a worldly standard rather than godly standard. Success by the world’s standard often means luxury, wealth, possession, fame, brain, etc. If we measure by world’s standard we will have inaccurate and incomplete view of whether or not we are successfuL God’s formula for success is completely unlike the world’s formula. And his formula works for every person in every situation whether at school, business, family or church. These principles are taken from Joshua 1: 6,7,9. “Be strong and courageous to be able to achieve success”.

David at the valley of Ellah had victory over Goliath while Isrealities and the 10 Spies called themselves ants. For success you need courage and strength.

Power of Goal Setting

A goal is a target toward which you move but it is more than that. Goal means specific measurable steps to achieve the mission. As leaders, our live must be balanced and integrated. It must cover all God-ordained areas of our lives. It must be in harmony and balanced as the foundation and the source of energy to achieve our mission. We must identify, select start small and repeat where necessary. Minimize your discouragement and maximize you success.
